How should I go about starting to Dj?

I want to start mixing/scratching and such, I'm a big fan of old school rap, and I don't know how I should go about it? Is the Stanton DaScratch a good start if I bought one? Would one alone be enough with a laptop? Any advise would be helpful. ThanksHow should I go about starting to Dj?
